Summer in Tahoe is in full swing! The weather is nice and warm, our days are nice and long, and hopefully you’re getting outside to enjoy all that Tahoe has to offer in the summer. Beach days, boating, hiking, paddle-boarding, biking, live music – there’s so much to do! We love summers here in Tahoe and to help you get out and enjoy something new, we have listed the upcoming Tahoe events for summer/fall of 2016:
Ongoing Events
- Every night except Wednesdays – Magic Fusion at The Loft – This family-friendly show features award-winning magicians from around the world. Check their site for more information, showtimes and prices
- May 28th through September 30th – Vikingsholm Castle Tour – Daily between 10:30am and 3:30pm, tours are offered around this unique castle at Emerald Bay. Adults – $10, Students 7-17 or with valid college ID – $8, Kids 6 or under are FREE
- Wednesdays at Riva Grill- Wet Woody Wednesday – The famous Wet Woody drink is discounted all day long – enjoy your drink and food while looking out over the marina and lake
- Sundays 12:00pm – 2:00pm – Music on the Lawn – Every Sunday Valhalla has their live music series starting July 3rd – bring a picnic and enjoy music by the lake

- July 4th – Lights on the Lake Fireworks – South Lake Tahoe’s 4th of July fireworks show is considered one of the best in the country and the fireworks are visible from pretty much anywhere around the lake. Local radio station 93.9 plays music along with the show which starts at 9:45pm
- July 4th – 4th of July Parade Honoring Our Veterans – Starting at TJ Maxx and working it’s way over to Bijou Community Park, the UC Berkeley Marching Band will be featured in this parade where local businesses are invited to participate
- Starting July 8th – Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival – Starting July 8th, the annual Shakespeare Festival located at the Sand Harbor State Park begins its run of Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors” and a musical “Forever Plaid”. Enjoy wine and dinner while watching the shows! For prices and showtimes check here
- July 9th – Taste of Gold Gourmet Food and Wine Tasting – This is the 5th annual Taste of Gold fundraiser put on by the Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation. Proceeds support academic programs and student scholarships. Enjoy lots of tasty snacks and wine! Tickets are $75 a person
- July 11th – 15th and July 18th – 22nd – Gina Stowell’s Children’s Art Class – Children will get to enjoy art class outside of Valhalla where they will have painting sessions, make nature journals, have a scavenger hunt and host an art show. For more information visit the Valhalla website
- July 19th – 24th – American Century Championship – Celebrity Golf Tournament – Here’s your chance to hang around celebrities at this six day, network aired event held at Edgewood Golf Course. You can purchase tickets and wander around and watch the tournament. Celebrities scheduled to appear include Justin Timberlake, Willie Robertson, Hines Ward, Oliver Hudson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Abby Wambach, Larry the Cable Guy, Charles Barkley and more!

- August 1st – 5th – Intensive Spanish Summer Institute – The Lake Tahoe Community College offers this Spanish intensive for all levels of of Spanish – the week includes 90 cultural break-out sessions and is a great way to immerse yourself in the language
- August 12th – 13th – Concours d’Elegance Wooden Boat Show – In it’s 44th year, the Lake Tahoe Concours is one of the premier judged wooden boat shows in the nation and features more than 85 of the best antique, vinatge and classic wooden boats. It’s really something to see!
- August 13th – 14th – Great Gatsby Living History Festival – From 10am – 4pm, this annual festival is located at the Tallac Historic site where they have activities spanning the whole weekend, vintage car shows, music, kids activities, booths and so much more! Find out more information here
- August 19th – Michael Franti & Spearhead – Michael Franti & Spearhead return to Tahoe at Mont Bleu Casino – it’s a standing show with limited seating, the show starts at 8pm but doors open at 6pm. Purchase your tickets at the MontBleu website
- August 20th – Sierra Starlight – Author Tony Rowell will be at the South Lake Tahoe Library at 3:00pm pesenting his new book “Sierra Starlight”. He’ll be talking about his experiences and sharing his photos. Contact (530) 573 – 3185 for more information
- August 27th – Lake Tahoe Splash & Dash – Starting at 10:00am over in Tahoma, this aquathon is for kids up to 15. It’s $25 and each participant receives a tshirt, participation medal and snacks. You can register your kids here

- September 4th – Labor Day Weekend Fireworks Extravaganza – Starting at 8:30pm, this anual fireworks show is a great way to say goodbye to summer. The fireworks are visible anywhere around the lake and if you listen to local radio station 93.9, the music goes along with the fireworks
- September 11th – Tour de Tahoe – This bike ride around “Big Blue” is an annual cycling event and this year they are partnering up with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to ride to cure cancer. Check their website for more information
- September 17th – Great Sierra River Clean Up of Lake Tahoe – The Sierra Nevada Conservancy is a network of local community clean up crews, dedicated to keeping our beautiful lake and streams clean. 9:00pm-3:00pm and you can register here
- September 17th – Sample the Sierra – This is the seventh annual Sample the Sierra which is a farm to fork festival highlighting foodm, wine and art in the Sierra Nevada. From 12-5pm, located at Bijou Community Park, there’s live entertainment, arts & crafts booths, food and wine samples and more!
- September 17th – Thunder From Down Under – Girls night out! The world famous Thunder From Down Under returns to Harrah’s Casino for one night. You must be 21 or older to attend and tickets can be purchased at here
- September 18th – The Great Lake Tahoe Bike Race & Ride – Starting at 6:50am in Zephyr Cove, this 72.2 miles race around the lake is perfect for the novice rider as it’s police escorted part of the way, controlled stop signs and roundabouts. You can register here
Harveys Summer Concert Series
Every year Harveys Lake Tahoe has their outdoor concert series. If tickets are already sold out you could always tailgate – the streets behind Harveys have become a popular destination to park your car and enjoy the music while hanging out with family and friends.
